Firm Announces Black Employee Advancement Network

New Employee Resource Group introduced

At Hines, we strive to provide an inclusive environment where differences are valued, embraced and celebrated, and where everyone can reach their full potential.

Following up on our pervious forums and building from the OneHines Women’s Network, the firm will be launching additional Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to better understand and engage other minority groups across the firm and the communities in which we serve.

On The Day the World Listened – One Year Later forum, the Black Employee Advancement Network (BEAN) ERG was introduced to all employees companywide.

BEAN will act as ambassadors and thought leaders for firmwide initiatives and will be co-led by Assistant Property Manager Michelle Marable and Managing Director Bert Brown. Vice Chairman Hasty Johnson serves as the Executive Sponsor and Managing Director Ken Jett and Senior Vice President – Operations Andrew Cooke will serve as group advisors.

Their mission is to provide a globally diverse employee support platform for the promotion of Black cultural education and awareness that:

  • Fosters inclusion and encourages a sense of community, through education, community involvement, career development and allyship
  • Provides early CRE industry awareness in Black communities and creates opportunities for Hines to become more engaged in the communities where we operate
  • Lead the transition from ally to advocate for non-Black members by becoming key partners in the tangible advancemesnt for Black cultural awareness and representation at Hines
  • Assists our members with identifying, understanding, and navigating systemic challenges for Black employees globally, and promote initiatives for greater understanding and awareness
  • Helps Black employees increase personal networks, mentorships and engagement across the firm resulting in greater business awareness and potential career advancement opportunities
  • Supports the key ESG pillar of Social, recognizing that the advancement of Black employees also advances the firm at large.

The united voices of members (Black employees, allies, and advocates) will drive sustainable advancement for all Black employees. BEAN is open to all employees, regardless of color or race.
