Hines Develops Logistics Center in Hamm, Germany

(HAMM, GERMANY) – Hines, the international real estate firm, today announced the development of the DistributionPark logistics center in Hamm in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The project, featuring flexible storage space as well as high-quality office and social rooms, will be developed on 71,000 square meters. The logistics complex will meet the highest standards of efficiency and connectivity and will also be DGNB-certified, making the Hines DistributionPark one of the most sustainable logistics centers in Germany. The architectural office Krüger Consult from Burgwedel was selected as a specialist for “green facilities.” The complex will be divided into two building structures and carefully integrated into its surroundings by existing earth walls, green spaces and trees.

Christian Meister, Managing Director at Hines, says: “In addition to the sustainability aspect, the flexibly divisible areas represent a major added value of the Hines DistributionPark. We can think of online retailers and industrial companies, but also contract logistics service providers as potential users. We are pleased about the great interest in the Hines logistics centre and are holding talks with potential tenants despite the current challenges caused by the Corona crisis.”

The new logistics center in the already existing industrial area of Hamm-Uentrop is ideally located in the booming logistics industry in the eastern Ruhr district. The location is well connected to the motorways and, via an access point in Dortmund, to the European rail network for combined freight transport.

Hines signed a purchase agreement for the site in early 2019 as part of a new investment strategy in the logistics sector. Hines is focusing on the development of selected locations, either with a develop-to-hold approach or with the aim of selling the properties in the market at a future date. The high-quality standards associated with the Hines name always ensure strong brand recognition for the company´s properties – and not only in Germany. Hines sees logistics real estate as an integral part of rural and urban structures. Innovations such as roof terraces, a modernized office concept, sports facilities and sleeping quarters for employees and drivers make the working environment in the DistributionPark more attractive.
