Markland Reveals Renderings of Amenities and Entrance

(ST. JOHNS COUNTY, FL) – Hines, the international real estate firm, revealed artistic renderings of the amenities and entrance designs for Hines’ new signature development, Markland, located in St. Augustine, FL. Markland’s amenities and landscaped entrance have been artfully designed by Basham and Lucas, the architect of the Manor House, and Prosser, Markland’s landscape architect and community planner. Prosser and Hines have carried forward the successful design partnership behind the innovative community plan and landscape designs that distinguish Palencia, another St. Johns County community created by Hines. Basham and Lucas will add the Markland Manor House to an impressive architectural portfolio including the Sweetwater Clubhouse and Eagle Landing amenity center.

The Markland Manor House, the amenity centerpiece of the community, has been designed in a classic, Greek Revival style, reflective of the historic grand homes of St Augustine. The first floor will contain an expansive, yet warm, gathering room that opens to the pool grounds and a communal card and game room. The second floor will be dedicated to residents’ health with a comprehensive array of strength and aerobic equipment, free weights and a yoga/spin studio.

The artist’s sketch of the pool and tennis grounds is representative of the view that residents will enjoy from the fitness center. In the foreground, two large cedar pergolas, three canvas cabanas, and lush landscaping are notable design features that frame the pool and paver deck. The pool is designed with a large zero-entry area as well as a deeper section for lap swimming and lounging on broad steps. Beyond the pool deck, an event lawn framed by majestic date palms, tennis courts and a lakeside fire pit, will be the staging area for numerous daytime and evening events for residents that will be hosted by Hines and Markland’s builders.

Extensive formal landscaping will accent the brick and stucco finishes that will combine to form the walled entry to Markland. The wall will continue from the entrance along the full length of the Markland border with International Golf Parkway with new landscaping and existing trees to buffer traffic from the community. Once off of International Golf Parkway, guests will be greeted at the gatehouse and then meander along the curved arrival court to discover an elegant processional of crepe myrtles that lead one’s eye to the stately edifice of the Manor House.

Each of Markland’s accomplished builders will provide a staffed model home offering prospective homebuyers a range of home sizes and architectural styles to guide their home selection and design process. Several architectural themes will be thoughtfully mixed throughout the community which will provide homebuyers with a diverse, yet complementary, offering of homes. Formal lawns and landscaping will accent the classic architectural detailing of the community’s homes to create a distinct and elegant new home community. The builders will initially offer homes from the low $300,000’s to over $600,000 on spacious lots that are oversized when compared to the market norm. Model homes are expected to start later this summer and be completed in late 2015 and early 2016. In the interim, more information can be obtained by visiting and registering at the community website, www.markland.com, or calling (904) 513-5740.
