One Museum Place Launches Charity Event

Philanthropy calls attention to the welfare of underprivileged children

One Museum Place partnered with Shanghai United Foundation (SUF), the city’s first independent public grant-making foundation, to organize a charity event supporting underprivileged children in China’s Yushu, Qinghai area.

SUF found that more than half of the children living in Yushu have access to clothing and shoes, but socks are often neglected, which leaves their feet frozen and frostbitten. Additionally, the earthquake-stricken region’s lack of sports facilities and equipment due to long-standing budget problems cannot meet the childrens’ physical health needs.

With the goal of gathering these items, One Museum Place and SUF launched Love for The Future, Help Yushu to collect new socks and used sports equipment for needy children. The event resulted in the collection of more than 2,000 pairs of new socks, more than 220 sports items and 200 toys over the course of one month – the highest number of donated items among all SUF’s previous partners. Goods were distributed to three area schools, which will benefit approximately 500 children.

“We hope our actions can bring love to the children as well as help them to improve their physical health,” said Kitty Cheung, marketing manager for One Museum Place. “This shows that our community cares and is willing to serve others. We are already planning to host a 2022 charity event.”
