Real Estate Development and Investment Internship Program

Our internship program has two tracks for you to consider. One focuses on how we develop landmark real estate projects that deliver lasting value to the communities we serve. The second focuses on how we take a long-term view in our investment business, seeking to manage risk, build resilience and generate sustainable returns.

Investment Management

Want to contribute meaningfully to processes and decisions that impact Hines’ world-renowned properties through market research, due diligence, financial analysis, and a range of other responsibilities?

Want to learn from a team responsible for sourcing new acquisition and development opportunities in local markets and for executing the business strategy for each project?

What to Expect from the Program

ABC Week for Summer Analysts

Held during your first week, our Analyst Boot Camp consists of introductions to our culture and real estate trainings to leverage in the internship and beyond.

Capstone Presentation

With guidance from our designated mentors, you will present on a real estate topic of your choice at the commencement of our internship experience.

Community Service Day

We encourage our employees to give back to our communities and you'll participate in a group Community Service Project of your choice.

Site Tours and Visits

You'll have insider access to local construction sites and property tours executed by our teams responsible for these world-renowned developments.

Lunch and Learns

Our leaders from across the firm will host lunch for you to network and learn more about a wide variety of company functions.

ABC Week provided a foundation of knowledge that continued to grow throughout the program. It was interesting to hear from various professionals about their roles at the firm; I could tell they love working at Hines.

Skyline Scholars

Skyline Scholars is an educational training program to help introduce the vast world of opportunities within the commercial real estate industry to early college students from underrepresented diverse backgrounds. Skyline Scholars will introduce students to industry concepts and skills while networking with Hines leadership responsible for shaping skylines with our diverse portfolio of properties around the globe. Awareness of our field’s career opportunities, access to real estate skills trainings, and introductions to our team members will best arm the next generation of leaders with the knowledge and skills to land a possible internship and/or full-time opportunities at Hines.

I’m looking forward to connecting with real estate professionals and my peers who share the same interests in this industry, as well as the chance to learn about how a career in the industry can allow me to have a positive impact on my community.

The Application Process

Real Estate Development and Investment Internship Program

Applications open late summer and close by end of September. Ideal applicants are current college juniors who are interested in careers in commercial real estate development and investment management. Students from any academic discipline will be considered; however, strong math/quantitative aptitude and interest is required.

Skyline Scholars

Skyline Scholars applications open at the beginning of each Spring semester. Ideal applicants are current college freshmen and/or sophomores from underrepresented diverse backgrounds and are interested in learning more about the commercial real estate industry.

Summer Associate Internship Program

Applications open in October and close late fall. Ideal applicants are first year MBAs with two or more years of related work experience.

Additional Internships

Throughout the year we have undergraduate internships opportunities in many different departments. These include Facilities Management, Finance, Property Management, Human Resources and many more. Check back frequently for new openings.

During COP26, a new mural that was designed using carbon absorbing paint mural was created in collaboration with local Glasgow artist, Little Book Transfers. The design features three of the top species currently under threat by climate change in Scotland.

An event at Hines Lake in Houston’s Memorial Park was held in recognition of all employees who generously donated to the annual United Way campaign.

Interns celebrate their accomplishments at the Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park, one of Houston’s most beloved, iconic landmarks and community centerpieces.

At River Point, the Hines team celebrated Founder’s Day and Gerald D. Hines by planting a tree on the Chicago Riverwalk to include a special dedicated plaque.
