World-Renowned Design Firm Gensler Joins Hines’ One Museum Place in Shanghai

(SHANGHAI) – Hines, the international real estate firm, today announced that Gensler—one of the world’s leading global architecture, design and planning firms—has moved in to the recently completed One Museum Place, a 1.4 million-square-foot, 60-story prime office tower with a six-story retail podium in Shanghai.

Located next to the new Natural History Museum and Jing’an Sculpture Park, One Museum Place is a Gensler-designed addition to the Jing’an skyline and a culmination of an exciting design journey shared with Hines, building owner and Gensler-design client. Gensler continues to invest in their practice in the Greater China region, and to accommodate their expanding team, the Gensler Shanghai office has relocated to One Museum Place, occupying 44,019 square feet over 1.5 floors.

Hines Senior Managing Director Jim Morrison said, “We are thrilled Gensler has decided to join One Museum Place. Both firms are committed to sustainable development in the country, and together we have more than 40 years of experience in China. It’s a true testament to the quality of the building that the designer of this new icon has chosen to be our first tenant.”

Managing Principal of Gensler’s Global Practice Dan Winey elaborated, “Together, we have been able to re-envision and co-create a building of extraordinary quality and efficiency, while creating an iconic addition to the Jing’an neighborhood and the Shanghai skyline.”

One Museum Place is driven by Hines’ vision of a world-class premium grade A office building that delivers exceptional ecological performance. The development naturally integrates with Jing’an as a district, including the Natural History Museum, the iconic Sculpture Park, and the transportation network, as the new tower and its lifestyle podium connect directly to the platform of Line 13 at the Natural History Museum Station.

The six-level, 228,378-square-foot (93,786 NRA) lifestyle-oriented retail podium will feature a variety of F&B offerings and will meet the daily needs of the office tenants by providing daytime and evening opportunities for dining and relaxation. Its spacious interiors and broad outdoor terraces overlook the 16-acre Jing'an Sculpture Park, which provides open green spaces, beautiful plantings, fountains and artwork. In addition to views of the park, the terraces offer unrivaled views of the iconic Lujiazui skyline.

Built by Shanghai Construction Group, One Museum Place is designed and built to the highest international specifications of quality and sustainability with features such as three-meter clear ceiling heights and superior elevator service. One Museum Place will be one of the first LEED® Platinum office towers in Shanghai and will feature a state-of-the-art air filtration and handling system, offering the cleanest air commercially available.

Hines Director Joshua Lindberg, who oversees leasing and marketing for the project, explained, “The Museum Place district is the last and best commercial and recreation area in the heart of downtown Shanghai. One Museum Place is a signal that this neighborhood is growing. It is the cornerstone of the Jing’an District’s new, world-class urban precinct, and its central location is helping to pull in corporations from other business hubs in Lujiazui, Huangpu and Xuhui.”

Since 1996, Hines has developed, managed and invested in the highest quality properties in China. One Museum Place is the newest showcase of Hines’ experience, reputation, and commitment to the highest standards of development in China.
