(DENVER, CO) – The Denver office of Hines, the international real estate firm, announced today that Mountain View Corporate Center I and IV have received Silver certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® for Existing Buildings (EB) rating system.
Located in Broomfield, CO, the office campus is situated at the entrance to the Interlocken Office Park along the U.S. 36 corridor between Denver and Boulder.
Hines purchased the 461,438-square-foot complex in 2006 on behalf of its U.S. Office Value Added Fund.
Both buildings have carried the ENERGY STAR® label every year since 2008.
With a current weighted-average score of 87, the buildings are 37 percent more energy efficient and annually save $0.96 in energy costs per square foot when compared to the average U.S. office building.
This translates to estimated annual greenhouse gas reductions equivalent to removing 241 passenger vehicles from the road, or reducing gasoline consumption by137,758 gallons.
Green features and programs include:
integrated pest and landscape management; a 33 percent reduction in potable water usage; and a high-performance green cleaning program. Additionally, Hines offers its proprietary GREEN OFFICE for Tenants program, which assists in giving tenants options to reduce their carbon footprint.
“We are very proud to have accomplished this certification, as it represents our dedication to providing a high-quality and sustainable office environment to our tenants, without whom this would not have been possible,” said Hines Property Manager Liz Taylor. “It was truly exciting to be party to such a collaborative effort in implementing lasting improvements to our building operations.”
“Hines is committed to implementing ways to operate our properties in a way that reduces energy consumption, limits water use and minimizes waste. We are pleased to have achieved this important certification at Mountain View Corporate Center,” expressed Hines’ Global Sustainability Officer Gary Holtzer.
The buildings are 89 percent leased to a notable tenant roster including: Acxiom Corporation; Corporate Office Centers; ENGlobal Engineering; Presilient, LLC; and Whitewave Foods.
