Hines' first development project in San Francisco was 101 California, which has served as the West Region office for more than 30 years. Other signature properties include the redevelopment and seismic retrofits of PG&E's Headquarters and the San Francisco Civic Center complex. A current focus includes Parcel F, which will be the last super-tall building in downtown San Francisco for the foreseeable future.

The firm has been involved in the acquisition, development and management of more than 30 million square feet of office, residential, retail and industrial space in greater Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Notable projects include Figueroa at Wilshire, US Bank Tower, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Raceway Industrial Park, and West Edge.

Hines broke into the Orange County market in 2005. Since then, the firm has been involved in the acquisition, development and management of more than 7 million square feet of office, residential, retail and industrial space throughout Orange County. Signature projects include 2211 Michelson, Intersect, Brea Place, 4000 MacArthur, 515 Dyer, and the Raytheon Campus.

The firm has been involved in the acquisition, development and management of more than 10 million square feet of office, residential, retail, industrial, and sports stadiums in the San Diego region. Hines has been active in the Utah market since 1988, when it acquired and oversaw the complete renovation and restoration of the historic Kearns Building on Main Street in downtown Salt Lake City. More recently, in 2013 Hines acquired The Gateway, which is comprised of four buildings in Salt Lake City. The firm is actively pursuing other investment opportunities in Utah and Oregon.

Hines entered Seattle in 1981 with the development of 800 Fifth Avenue. Since then, the firm has developed, acquired or managed an enviable portfolio of properties covering the office, mixed-use and medical categories. The firm’s experience in the area has produced several meaningful projects including Fourth & Madison in Seattle; Cedar Court in Redmond, WA; and both the Expedia Building in Bellevue, WA – the first building on the West Coast to receive LEED® Core & Shell pre-certification; and the Summit 3 tower in Bellevue, WA.
